Vernon A.J. Henderson, 72, of Ozark, went hone to be with his Lord, Monday, October 2, 2000, in Century Pines Retirement Home, Ozark. 'Dude' was born Dec 18, 1927, in McPherson, AR. He enlisted in the army in 1947, and married Gwendolyn I. Francis on October 16, 1954. He served in the Korean Conflict and retired a Command Sergeant Major in 1966 with 20 years of service. 'Dude' was employed in Springfield at G.E., 1970-1984. He moved to Norfork, AR, in 1995 and was a member of Glade Rock Chapel, Calico Rock, until moving to Ozark in June of 2000. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bob Henderson. He is survived by a son, John Henderson and wife Dayle; a daughter, Sherry Chambers and husband Geoffrey; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. Services were held at 10AM Thursday, Oct 5, 2000, in Roller Funeral Home Chapel, Mt. Home, AR, with the Rev Donnie Speak officiating. Burial was in Norfork Cemetery, Norfork, AR, with military graveside services by the North Central Arkansas Council Honor Guard by V.F.W. Post #3246.
