Funeral services for David Gibbs Jr, 53, of Newport are scheduled for 3:30PM today (Thursday) at the Roller Chapel. Rev. George Fletcher, pastor of the Norfork Baptist Church, will officiate and interment will be in the Norfork Cemetery, under the direction of the Roller Funeral Home.
Mr. Gibbs, a conductor for the Missouri Pacific Railroad, died Saturday at Newport. The son of David Gibbs, Sr and Cora Gibbs, he was born at Sedalia, MO, on July 8, 1920. He was married to Verna Mae Garner at Norfork in 1939.
Survivors include his wife, of Newport; a son, Jerry, of North Little Rock; a daughter, Mrs. Judith Ann Granderson of Pine Bluff; two brothers, Henry Gibbs and Sam Gibbs, both of Seattle, WA; a sister, Mrs. Anna Gene Gilliland of Little Rock; and one grandchild.
Pallbearers for today's service will be Roger Haley, C.W. Crandall, R.R. Gill, C.O. Gill, F.N. Collins and Paul E. Magness. Honorary pallbearers will be O.W. Whiaker and Julian Morey.
