Funeral services for J.R. Fountain of Cotter, who died in the Rollins Hospital, October 29, were held in the Baptist Church in Norfork, Thursday of last week with the Rev. Claude Crigler officiating. Burial was in the Norfork Cemetery with the Adams Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Fountain was born in 1873 at Wild Cherry and spent his early life as a farmer in Izard County. He worked on construction of the White River Division of the Missouri Pacific from Batesville north. He was married to Miss Lona Watson in 1894, who preceded him in death. He moved to Cotter in 1934, where he spent the remainder of his life. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Agnes Killian of Norfork, Mrs. L.H. Meeks and Mrs. S.J. Foley of Cotter and Mrs. Carl H. Lindholm of Eads, CO; three son, Homer Fountain of Shamrock, OK, K. Fountain of Overton, Texas and Virgil Fountain of Home and 20 grandchildren.
