McCURDY, Amanda Barnes - Mrs. Harvey McCurdy died at the family home north of Bentonville at 5 o'clock this morning at the age of 61 following a stroke of paralysis last Friday night. Mrs. McCurdy was born in Benton County and has lived here all her life. She was married about 40 years ago. Besides Mr. McCurdy, two sons, Charles and Russell, and four daughters, Mrs. Zen Powless of Galesburg, Ill., Mrs. D.A. Foust and Mrs. Russell Davis of Englewood, Colo. and Mrs. Luther Ford of St. Joe, survive her, All of the children were with her at her passing. Funeral services will be held at the McCurdy home at one o'clock Friday afternoon and burial will follow immediately after in the Oakes Cemetery.

(The issue of The Record and Democrat for December 18, 1930 says Mrs. McCurdy was born in Kansas but had lived in Benton County ever since she was a small child.)

Bentonville, Dec. 13.— Mrs. Amanda Barnes McCurdy, 61, wife of Harve McCurdy, died at her home 3 miles northeast of Bentonville early Thursday morning, her death following a paralytic stroke which she suffered several days ago. She was born in Kansas but had lived in Benton county for many years. She is survived by her husband and by two sons, Russell McCurdy, who lives 8 miles north of Bentonville, and Charles McCurdy, who lives east of Bentonville, and four daughters: Mrs. Russell Davis of Denver, Col.; Mrs. Minnie Ford of St. Joe, Mo.; Mrs. Dora Faust of Denver, Col.; and Mrs. Ella Palace of Galesburg, Ill. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the family home by the Rev. R. Haden, pastor of the Bentonville Methodist church and burial was in the Quaker cemetery, four miles north of Bentonville.
