In the settlement of the estate of the late B.F. Sikes, the old home place on E. Walnut street went to W.W. Sikes, who takes possession in a week or so, Mrs. John Miller, the residence on 4th street, now occupied by R.C. Copp, (The family will take possession there soon. Mr. Copp has rented the Oakley place, just south of the Congregational church.), Mrs. M.T. Robertson the residence just north of that of her sister, Mrs. Miller,(she is living there now, formerly resided at Bloomfield, this county.

B.F. Sikes, son of pioneer settler Robert Sikes, owned what would be the original town site of Rogers. Rogers was founded as a stop on the St. Louis and San Francisco Railroad. In 1880 the Frisco established a route through the eastern part of Benton County, bypassing the county seat of Bentonville. B. F Sikes granted the right-of-way for the railroad tracks, donated a site for the depot, platted a town, and began to sell lots. Incorporated in 1881 and named for railroad vice president Captain C.W. Rogers, the city of Rogers is located in Benton County southeast of Bentonville.
