AGED CIVIL WAR VETERAN DIES AT AGE OF 94

Samuel Corby, 94 year old Civil War veteran, died early last Sunday morning at the home of his son, M.C. Corby, of near Vaughan, with whom he had lived most of the time since the death of his wife several years ago.

Mr. Corby was born near Kallamzoo, Mich., February 30, 1848. He was married to Louisa Allen of Kincaid, Kansas, who preceded him in death 33 years ago. He served 3 years and 6 months with the Army of the Patomac during the Civil War and was personally acquainted with both Abraham Lincoln and General Grant. He became a member of the Christian church some thirty years ago.

He is survived by two sons, J.S. and M.C. Corby of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Lucy Davis of Tulsa, Okla., and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at the Callison-McKinney Funeral Home with the Rev. E.E. Watson, pastor of the Christian Church, in charge.

The body will be taken to Fayetteville immediately after the funeral and buried in the National cemetery.
