Ernest E. Musselman, one of the oldest and best known business men of Rogers, was killed about 6:40 Friday evening when he was struck by the Fayetteville-Rogers bus as he was crossing South Fourth street about a half a block south of his home, corner of Fourth and Poplar. He lived only a few minutes after being struck by the heavy car, his skull being fractured and he sustained other injuries, bith legs being broken. He never regained consciousness. Mr. Musselman had evidently walked up Cherry Street to make a delivery and had started diagonally across South Fourth from the corner of Cherry and Fourth to the home of J.W. Bryant, his meighbor on the south, with a sack of rolls. Lee Graham, driver of the cheatham bus, "Miss Rogers", testified at the coroner's inquest that Mr. Musselman was about 25 feet north of the crossing when he first saw him and apparently in the middle of the street. He said he pulled the bus to the right towards the curb and that Mr. Musselman, who was very hard of hearing, jumped back when he saw or heard the approaching car and was struck by the bumpers and knocked down. The only witnesses to the accident were Mr. Graham, the driver; a St. Louis traveling man, Mr. Jarrett, and a little six-year-old girl, Jean Anne Boyer. Both Mr. Graham and Mr. Jarrett testified that the car was not going over 12 to 15 miles an hour, having slowed down for the jog at the intersection of Cherry and Fourth and that it was stopped within its length after hitting Mr. Musselman. The fact was also evidenced by the buns which marked the spot where he was struck and the blood stains which marked where he had fallen to the concrete pavement. Coroner A.D. Callison held an inquest at 8:00 o'clock that night and several witnesses were called but aside from returning a verdict that death was occasioned by the bus in question no attempt was made to fix the blame for the unfortunate accident.
Funeral services were held at the Musselman home Sunday afternoon at 2:30 and were conducted by Harry Abbott of the Christian Science church of which the deceased was a member. The large number of citizens who gathered in the home and in the yard, together with the profusion of beautiful flowers, testified to the high esteem in which Mr. Musselman was held by our people. It was the nore sorrowful because all the friends remembered that it was only last March, the 21st, that the wife and mother had passed away and that the three children, Mrs. Howell Hodges, Ralph and Geraldine, were now doubly stricken and bereft.
Mr. Musselman was born January 1, 1864 in Jo Davis county, Illinois and was 63 years, eleven months and nine days old. He came to Rogers in 1889 to bake for Michael & Barley's restaurant, coming here from Clay Center, Kansas where he had lived since 1879 and where he had learned the baking trade. He worked for different firms here until 1895 when he established the Famous Bakery on West Walnut street where he was in business for many years. Later he built his own business house on South Second where the Famous Bakery is almost a trade mark. Only one or two Rogers business men have been here so long as had Mr. Musselman and no citizen in the history of Rogers has ever borne a better reputation for honesty, sobriety, love of home and family, and all else that goes to make a real man.
Mr. Musselman married Miss Minnie Maud Adamson June 3, 1894 and his married life was a most happy one. They built the home where they lived for nearly thirty-three years soon after their marriage and the death of his wife last March was a blow from which he had not recovered.

Mrs. E.E. Musselman died quite suddenly Monday morning at the home, corner of Fourth and Poplar. She had been ill for a year or two and her condition had been considered dangerous for several weeks but the end came so suddenly that it was a shock to both the family and the many friends.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church tuesday afternoon at three o'clock and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Ben H, Moore. Members of the Junior class from the High School, classmates of the youngest daughter, Miss Geraldine, and the Rainbow Girls, were present in a body. The many beautiful flowers were eloquent testimony of the high esteem in which the deceased was held by the peope of Rogers.
Minnie Maud Adamson was born in Kansas City January 3, 1874, a daughter of E.R. Adamson and wife. While the family was living at Pierce City, Mo. she united with the Presbyterian church, of which she had ever since been a faithful and consistent member. At the age of 18 the Adamson family came to Rogers and here she had made her home for 35 years. On june 3, 1894 she married E.E. Musselman of Rogers and to this union three children were born who with their father survive her: Mrs. Howell Hodges, Ralph and Geraldine. She is also survived by three brothers, Lee, Ray and Clair, all of them in California.
Mrs. Musselman was for many years an active worker in the Ladies Aid Society of the Presbyterian church but ill health had kept her at home for a year or so. A woman of many splendid qualities, Mrs. Musselman had many warm friends and her illness and death has been a great grief to all who knew her. The deepest sympathy of the entire community goes out to the broken and bereaved husband and to the broken hearted children.
