Valentine (Violet) Stapleton Burruss, daughter of the late William Martin Stapleton and Alma Maye Thomas Stapleton, was born February 14, 1936, in Calico Rock. She departed this life on February 1, 2006, in Mr. Home. She was 69 years old.
She was united in marriage to Loyd Burruss on April 11, 1953, and to this union three children were born. She spent her life as a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the Pleasant Valley Community Church and of the Baptist faith.
Violet leaves to mourn her passing; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ernest Burruss of Calico Rock and Jimmy and Sheryl Burris of Brockwell; one step daughter, Lola Faye Bell of Utah; three sisters, Janice (Toots) Heron of Yakima, WA, Maxine Jeffery of Benton and Charlene, (Chock) Stapleton of Calico Rock; two brothers, Fred Stapleton of Calico Rock, and Daran Stapleton of Benton; three grandchildren, Dhian Potts, Dondee Burris and Levi Burris; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Tony Burris; three brothers, Billy, Orbie and Carl Stapleton and one sister, Mabel Lovelace.
Funeral services were held February 3, at Calico Rock Funeral Chapel with Chuck Day officiating. Pallbearers were Ricky Jeffery, Rodney Jeffery, Jimmy Crider, Marty Stapleton, Marshell Morris and Gary Stapleton. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Thomas, Rick Kimble, Steve Marsue, Duran Stapleton, Junior Foster and Lefty Foster.
Interment was at Norfork Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock.
