*Obituary

Hugh Barton, 75 years old, pensioned White River division telegrapher, died at his home near Norfork, AR, March 2, after an illness of five years. Mr. Barton was born at Earnestown, Ontario, Canada, May 13, 1860, and began his railroad career as night operator at the age of 17. He came to the White River division as station agent at Sylamore, AR, in July 1906. He moved to Norfork in September of 1911, where he remained as station agent until he was retired June 2, 1930, at the age of 70. He is survived by his widow, Lucy A. Barton; three daughters, Geneice Barton, Mrs. R. Conley, and Mrs. J.L. Best; one son, Hugh, all of Norfork and three sisters, Mrs. Kate McRae, Reeder, Alberta, Canada, Mrs. Nellie B. M? , Trenton, NJ, and Mrs. Minnie ??mins, Wolfe Island, Ontario. -----services were held at the home......4, with burial in Norfork Cemetery.

Hugh Barton 73 years of age, died at his home in Norfork, Tuesday. Mr. Barton was a retired Missouri Pacific employee. He had served the company as agent in various place for a total of 24 years.
In the death of Mr. Barton the town of Norfork has lost one of its most popular and best-loved citizens. Everyone who knew Mr. Barton loved and respected him. He was known far and wide for his many acts of kindness.
The deceased is survived by his wife and four children. Funeral services and burial were held in Norfork.
