ROGERS — Mary Jean Harris, age 86, of Rogers, passed away July 25, 2012, at Circle of Life Hospice at Legacy Village. She was born in Pea Ridge on June 29, 1926, to the late Lewis and Lena (Lee) Bookout.
Mary Jean was raised in Rogers, graduated Rogers High School and attended Oklahoma State University. She was a 50-plus year member of PEO Chapter U and was very active in her church, Central United Methodist, of which she was a lifelong member. She enjoyed being outdoors, whether tending her garden or playing golf, and playing bridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Ray M. Harris.
Survivors include her daughters, Jo Harris Chastain and husband, Steve, of Rogers, Lee Anne Harris of Rogers, Martha Harris Meenen and husband, Dennis, of Rogers; grandsons, Hunter Harris Chastain and wife, Ashley, of Rogers, Grant Marshall Chastain; and great-granddaughter, Harper Chastain.
Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers, officiated by the Rev. Carness Vaughn and the Rev. Jim Keith. The family will greet friends at a reception following the service.
Memorial contributions, in lieu of flowers, should be made to the Central United Methodist Church Garden Fund, 2535 W. New Hope Road, Rogers, 72758; or to Circle of life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, 72764. to benefit the new hospice house at Legacy Village in Bentonville.
Cremation arrangements are by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.
