Rilla Laverne Young, 85, passed away peacefully in Springdale, Arkansas on the afternoon of October 17, 2022. According to Rilla, she was born "out in the country" in Monroe County, Arkansas on October 3, 1937. Rilla was the oldest of seven children, raised picking cotton and attending church regularly. She attended Brinkley Public School and her occupation in life was to care for others as a home healthcare aid. She met Tom Murlin Young Sr. at the age of 20 and they were married soon after. Together they pastored several Pentecostal churches in the state of Arkansas and dedicated their lives and their children's lives to serving Christ. Her most treasured act was giving her children to the Lord. She loved cooking and tending to the flowers in her garden, especially in the springtime.
Rilla Laverne Young is preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Castille Bryan; her father, John Henry Bryan; her husband, Tom Murlin Young Sr.; siblings, Rusty Bryan and Martha "Cookie" Holmes; daughter, Vira Ann Young and granddaughter, Sarah Ann Young.
She has left behind to continue the good work, her children, John Braxton Young, Tom Murlin Young Jr. (Becky), Sherri Ellen Baledge (Lee) and grandchildren, Brak Young (Jay), Ethan Young (Rachel), Jessica Roberts (Shaun), Mary Audra Baledge and Isaac Baledge and five great-grandchildren, along with a multitude of other family members.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 22 at 11 A.M. with a 10:30 A.M. visitation before the service at Crestlawn Memorial Park in Conway, Arkansas.
