Andrew Jackson Hatman of Oxford, son of the late Joe and Isabelle Hatman was born January 14, 1917 at Wiseman. He died March 3, 1999 at John McClellan VA Hospital in Little Rock. He was 82.

Mr. Hatman was united in marriage to Ida Marie “Sue” Martin on February 28, 1942 at Union. To this union, two children were born. He served his country in the U.S. Army in World War II. He was an auto mechanic and owner and operator of the Oxford Garage for many years. He was a member of the Oxford Church of Christ since he was 26 years old. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Eugene Hatman and wife Patsy of Thayer, Missouri; and Jerry Hatman and wife Donna of Bryant; one sister Rebecca Marney of Rockford, Illinois; five grandchildren, Kelly. Kimberley, Chris, Chad and Andrea Hatman; two step-grandchildren , Tim Ary and Denise Davis; six great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by one brother, Arch Hatman; one grandson, Andy Hatman; one step-grandson, Tony Ary and his parents.

Funeral services were held March 4, 1999 at Cox-Estes Chapel with Reverend David Gibson officiating.

Burial was at Oxford Cemetery under the direction of Cox-Estes Funeral Home of Salem.
