Richard Howard Benson, 76, of Hampton died Monday at his home after a lengthy illness. Born Feb. 23, 1895, in Hampton, he was the son of Gus and Belle Thomason Benson. He was a retired farmer, a Methodist and a lifelong resident of the Hampton area. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Cora Callaway Benson, Hampton; four daughters, Mrs. Berta Jones and Mrs. Frances Carroll, both of El Dorado, Mrs. Flossie Green, Hampton, Mrs. Pollie Doggett, Morgan City, La.; three brothers, Doyle Benson, Hampton, Murl Benson, El Dorado and Jack Benson, Kilgore, Tex.; and nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Rumph Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - March 8, 1971)
