"We stuck it out together"
Clarence was born in a drafty house with a deep snow outside in Acorn, AR. He was delivered by his grandmother and midwife, Margaret Elizabeth Fried Jackson. His parents were William Eppie Reed and Margaret Martha Melinda Jackson Reed. He worked for the K.C.S. railroad for 30 years. Grace Viola Emmons Reed was born in Piney, OR. Her parents were Violet Hanford and Arthur James Emmons. She grew up in Oregon, Syracuse NY, and Watsonville, CA. Clarence and Grace met at a cannery in Watsonville. C.H. & Grace raised 7 children by gardening, hunting, and canning the food. They taught their children to never let anyone outwork them, and to never do anything that would keep them from sleeping at night. They taught them that the whole world was God's Church. They taught them to be generous for there is always someone who is less fortunate than you.
