Betty Towns, age 91, of Huttig, AR passed away on Monday, May 22, 2023 in Bastrop, LA at Lagniappe HealthCare Skilled Nursing Facility where her care for the past 6+ years was personally supervised by her Granddaughter Sandra Carter.
She was born in Huttig, AR on September 8, 1931, the daughter of J.C. Bolton and Rachel Lee Wright Bolton. She was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother, always concerned about others. She was a homemaker who loved to bake, sew and was an avid reader. On late summer afternoons she could be seen with her feet up in the swing on her porch.
She attended First Baptist Church of Huttig, AR and loved to read her Bible.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, G.E. "Ras" Towns, brothers, Lon Chaney, Robert Colin, Joe Melton, and Jimmy Clyde Bolton, sisters, Carol Sue Bolton, and Linda Fay Horton, son, Steven Earl Towns, and daughter, Wanda Gail Harrison.
Those left to miss her forever are daughters, Freida Riley and husband, Tom Morris of Marshall, TX and Judy Craig of Epps, LA, grandchildren, Sandra Carter and John Kevin Dupree of Sterlington, LA, Brandy Tucker of Bernice, LA, Jeffery Craig of Collinston, LA, Mark Riley of Homer, LA, and Cheyenne Bezzard of Epps, LA, and great grandchildren, Brett Clingan, Christopher Clingan, Logan Young, and Joshua Riley.
Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Harper Springs Cemetery with Morgan "Buddy" Lowery officiating under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jeffery Craig, Mark Riley, Christopher Clingan, John Kevin Dupree, Shane Young, and Brenson Dupree.
Special thanks to Lagniappe HealthCare staff and facility for the excellent loving care and attention they provided from day one.
Special thanks to Mary and Buddy Lowery for so faithfully visiting these past 6+ years. Their friendship and prayers meant the world to her.
