Walter R. “Herk” Williams, age 87, of Crossett, AR passed away on January 8, 2016 at Stonegate Villa Health & Rehab. He was born on January 19, 1928 in Warren, AR to his parents, Arter Lorie and Reecie James Williams. Herk served in the National Guard for fifteen years and was a maintenance superintendent for Georgia Pacific Chemical. For many years, Herk owned several restaurants including Herk’s Fast Food where he served “Herk-A-Burgers” to many students. He loved baseball and all sports with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Williams was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crossett. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Artie, and Jimmy Williams; a half-brother, Henry Williams; two half-sisters, Lily Jenkins, Inez Hilderth and a grandson, Drew Williams.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Rachel Ragar Williams; two sons, Richard Carroll Williams (Paula), Walter Steven Williams; one sister, Mary Frances Wheeler, all of Crossett, AR; two grandchildren, Lindsay Dixon (Kyle) of Springdale, AR, Pierce Williams (Lauren) of Russellville, AR and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Bro. Jamie Staley and Pierce Williams officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Warren, AR under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett, AR. ( www.jonesservice.com)
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
