January 3, 1950 - May 20, 2020
*obituary
Mike Harris, 70, of Haslet, TX, passed away May 20, 2020 at his Prescott home. Mike was born January 3, 1950 in Prescott, AR to Paul Thurman and Essie Faye Harris. Mike had many nicknames including, Tank, Hammer, Peachy, and Gringo but was mostly referred to as Harris by his friends, and as Dadda by his family.
Harris graduated from Prescott High School in 1968. He started his football career here and was proud to be a Curley Wolf.
He continued his love of football and became a Tiger at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR. He played football all four years and earned his Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1972.
He met the love of his life, Carol, while at OBU. They were married in 1971.
After college, Harris coached a few years before returning to Prescott to take over the family business, Harris Contractors. Harris built several residential and commercial structures throughout Arkansas and Texas.
Harris was always up for a good time and definitely the “Life of the Party”. He was an avid hunter. He loved to play golf and enjoyed his rodeo career as a bull-dogger for several years. Mike and Carol loved to travel and have been all over the world in their 49 years of marriage. In his later years, you could find Dadda keeping umpires and referees honest at any of his 5 grandkids’ sporting events. He was always there.
He is survived by his spouse, Carol, and his children, Heath and Rachelle Harris and Mike and Haley Carter, and his grandchildren, Bailee Carter, Brody Carter, Katelyn Harris, Kooper Harris, Kolter Harris, and countless relatives and friends.
Harris reunited with his parents, Paul and Faye, and his sister, Donna, in Heaven.
