Jake Allen Finkbeiner, 72, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in Baytown, TX. He was born May 30, 1932 in Malvern, Arkansas.
Mr. Finkbeiner loved Arizona where he and his wife traveled extensively in their motor home. They last lived in Casa Grande, Arizona, until moving to Baytown a year and a half ago.

Mr. Finkbeiner was a graduate of the University of Arkansas where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He was a rabid fan of the Razorbacks, and followed his team throughout his lifetime. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, which he entered near the end of the Korean War. He went through pilot training and flew jets out of Maranna AFB in Arizona.

He was stationed at Randolph Field in San Antonio and at Ramstein AFB in Germany.

After his Air Force career, Mr. Finkbeiner operated two successful businesses in Little Rock, Arkansas.

He and his wife traveled extensively throughout the Western U.S. They would spend months at Red Canyon, Utah, and their favorite locales of Yosemite, Glacier, and Bryce Canyon National Parks.

Mr. Finkbeiner was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Lucile Finkbeiner of Benton, Arkansas, and his infant twin sons, Michael and Matthew.

Mr. Finkbeiner is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Elise. He leaves behind four children, Bill and Donna Ashley of Baytown, Lauren and Kenny Deel of Van Alstyne, TX., Bob Finkbeiner of Little Rock, and Ray and Cris Finkbeiner of Spring, TX. His grandchildren, who affectionately called him Grumps, include Brad and Leah Ashley, Geoff Ashley, Britt and Erik Holland, Jared Roberge and Lara Roberge, and Emily and Sophia Finkbeiner. He is survived by one great-grandson, Tucker Ashley, and numerous other family and friends.

Services for family will be held at First United Methodist Church of Benton, Arkansas, on Saturday, December 11, 2004. Sons and grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
