Jerry Luker, 75, entered in the gates of Heaven January 30, 2018. He was born to Jack and Pauline Luker on June 2, 1942. Jerry graduated as salutatorian of his high school from Cutter Morning Star in 1960. He was the first person in the state of Arkansas to receive an academic scholarship but chose rather to serve in the U.S. Navy from 1960 to 1962. He later graduated from Henderson State University. Jerry worked as a CPA after spending 15 years at First National Bank. He was a faithful member of Lakeview Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jacquelyn Gardner, Richard “Dick” Luker (Josie), Joyce Gray (Ed), Marilyn Thomason, Edna Sears (Frank), Betty Rios (Al), Juanita Velasquez (Joe), Clifton Graves, Joe Nelson, Don Cheek, and JoAnn Luker. Jerry is survived by sisters, Helen Graves, Brenda Breshears (Lonnie) of Texas, Cheryl Nelson of Bismarck, Paula Cheek; brothers, Wayne Luker, J.B. “Buck” Luker, all of Hot Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Caruth-Hale Funeral Home. A lunch will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday at the Lakeview Assembly of God with a celebration of Jerry’s life immediately following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Wayne Gore officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery. Pallbearers include Sam Nelson, Kelly Nelson, Gary Luker, Larry Burgett Jr., Adam Burgett, and Jody Burgett. Honorary pallbearers are Charlie Edwards, his Lakeview Assembly Family, his CPA Clients, John Huffman, Roland Adcock, Dean and Patsy McCormick, Elly McMillan, and Mark Graves. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Cancer Unit, Arkansas Children’s Hospital Cancer Unit, or Lakeview Assembly of God.
