Elsie "Irene" Harris, age 82, of Lowell, passed away August 18, 2016, at her home after a 10-plus year battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Shell Knob, Mo., on April 2, 1934, to the late Abie and Mary Frances (Cooper) Shrum.
On July 3, 1955, she married Jackie Clarence Harris and they were married 59 years at the time of his death in 2015. She retired from Emerson Electric after 30-plus years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, quilting, canning, and her family.
Survivors include her sons, Eddie Harris of Avoca, Jackie Gail Harris and wife Jenny of Rogers; daughters, Vickie Miller and husband Jeff of Springdale, Linda Mars and husband Steve of Lowell; daughter-in-law Carol Harris of Winslow; brother, Fred Shrum of Oregon; sisters, Mildred Myers and Willa Dean Shrum of Purdy, Mo., Sue Brown of Cassville, Mo., JoAnne Robbins of Jenkins, Mo.; grandchildren, Shavonne Mars, Aaron Harris, Jeromie Harris, Joe Harris, Anthony Mars, Jr., Jason Harris, Elizabeth Miller, Dusty Harris, Kynzee Miller, Kamie Harris; great-grandchildren, Lukas, Cortney, Dixie, Avalon and Alucard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Jackie Clarence Harris; a son, Jerry Harris; and a brother, Leroy Shrum.
Visitation will be 1-2:30pm on Monday, August 22, 2016, with services beginning at 2:30pm in the Rollins Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Chaplain Chuck Bengtson. Burial will follow in Benton County Memorial Park.
