Graveside services were held for Dovard Ruban Lewis, age 83, at Jolly Cemetery in Wesson, AR, on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Rodney Gray, officiated. Visitation was held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at Rose-Neath Funeral, 405 East 5th Street, Homer, LA, from 3-5 p.m.

Ruban was born May 27, 1940, in New Hope, AR, to Dovie and Dessie Cullins Lewis. He entered into rest on November 29, 2023, in Haynesville, LA. As a child, Ruban’s whole family planted, cultivated, and picked cotton as share croppers. Wanting to see the world, Ruban enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went through Basic Training. He was a avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting deer and squirrel, as well as fishing for bass or catfish. Ruban grew a garden every year which was full of squash, tomatoes, purple hull peas, and okra. He was devoted son, sibling, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved and cherished his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Marshell Lewis, Ersel Lewis and James D. Lewis; and three sisters, Clairiece Wright, his twin, Ruby Lewis, and Lawana Sue Lewis.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Connie Ervin Lewis; two sons, Marshell Lewis of Haynesville, LA, and David Lewis of Rock Falls, IL; brother, Billy Ray Lewis and wife Liz of Hope, AR; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Ruban Lewis, Devon Clark, Tyler Lewis, Matthew Lewis, J.T. Hodges and Tyler Perritt.
