As the sun was barely rising over the horizon on September 13, 2024, 85 year old Juan Arredondo, born in Lordsburg, New Mexico and resided in Las Vegas, NM over 60 years has passed away. He was surrounded by his beloved wife, Vivian, of 60 years and his daughters and son in law.

Juan received his BA and Master’s at Highlands University and worked at East Las Vegas School District for 49 years, as a Memorial Middle School Spanish Teacher, Vice Principal, Principal. He then became a Principal at Sierra Vista Elementary School and then was a Federal Project’s Director. He retired in 1995 and became a substitute teacher for 22 years.

Juan served in the New Mexico National Guard and then joined the Navy from 1958 to 1962. During his many years as an educator one of the things he loved was going to Santuario de Chimayo once a month. He also loved taking his granddaughter all over the country during the summers and visiting family.

He is survived by his wife Vivian and daughters Juanita and Jason Braud, Barbara Leigh and Gilbert Ramirez, granddaughter Taylor Nicole and Aaron Shipman and also great granddaughter Adelynn Grace, one month old; nieces, Debbie Marshall (Kris), Dan Davis (Roger).

Juan leaves behind his brother and sister in law Jimmy and Barbara Ann Arredondo. His sister and bother in law Concha and Ray Morales. His nephew Santiago Arredondo. He also leaves behind Barbara Ann Impson, sister in law and two nieces.
