Verdie Franklin Stracener, Jr., age 80, of Benton, Arkansas went to be with the Lord Monday, February 26, 2007. He was born August 30, 1926 in El Paso, Arkansas to the late Verdie F. Stracener Sr., and Artie Mae O'Guin Stracener. Mr. Stracener was a World War II Army Veteran, a retired truck driver from ABF Trucking Company. He served as an elder for 20 years in the church and was a member of the Mabelvale Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Freda Eastman and one brother, V.F. Stracener III.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ellen Marie Holeyfield Stracener; four daughters, Shirley and Phil Riley of West Monroe, Louisiana, Linda and Eddie Black of Alexander, Jan and Allan Biggs of Greenbrier and Bonnie and Stan Palmer of Benton; two brothers, Leon and Buena Stracener of Benton and Ancil and Jean Stracener of Hoxie; four grandchildren, Cheryl and Josh Bonner of Sterlington, Louisiana, Jo Riley of West Monroe, Louisiana, Joshua Palmer and Jessica Palmer, both of Benton; a great grandson, Braeden Scott Bonner of Sterlington, Louisiana and a host of other relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Mabelvale Church of Christ with Mr. Carroll Sites and Mr. Bob Turner officiating.
Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Wednesday at Roller-Drummond Funeral Home (501) 455-5800.
