James W. McGee 3rd, age 72, of Sherwood, Arkansas, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. He was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 25, 1952, the son of Dottie Goodwin McGee and Retired Lt. Commander James W. McGee 2nd, who have proceeded him in death. Also proceeding James in death are two sons, Joseph S. Williams and James W. McGee 4th.

James is survived by his wife of 42 years, JuJu Anne McGee (Judith); one son, Allen C. McGee, and, three sisters, Judith Shaw, Candace Dochstader and Daborah Greedn; along with many nieces and nephews.

James graduated High School in 1970 and soon after enlisted into the U.S. Army where he served for 3 years. Several years later James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he served faithfully for over 16 years prior to his retirement. During his time serving in the U.S. Air Force, James attained the rank of NCO in September of 1983 after attending the NCO Orientation School. James went on to graduate from the A.F. Technical Orders Systems School in June of 1987 and also graduated NCO Leadership School in May of 1989.

While serving James earned, the A.F. Achievement Medal with 1 device, A.F. Commendation Medal, an A.F. Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, A.F. Longevity Service Award with 3 devices, National Defense Service Medal with 1 device, A.F. Training Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 device, A.F. Overseas Long Tour Ribbon, NCO Professional Military Education Ribbon, A.F. Outstanding Unit Award with 5 devices, and the A. F. Good Conduct Medal with 5 devices.

James was a faithful member of The Connection Church of Sherwood, where he attended regularly. James especially enjoyed the church’s First Sunday Fellowship Potlucks as well as his Sunday School Class “The Overcomers”, and he also enjoyed the weekly fellowship in worship. James also enjoyed time he got to spend with the children in the church and dearly loved his many 4 legged fur babies (The Dogs) who he played with regularly and enjoyed the time they spent cuddling in his lap.

A burial will be held at a later date as well as a memorial service which will be held at The Connection Church of Sherwood; date yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, in keeping with James’s love of his church, donations can be made to The Connection Church of Sherwood at 14322 Highway 107 Gravel Ridge, Arkansas 72076.
