On July 20, 1948, Carl and Sylvester Evans-Tidwell gave birth to a bouncing baby girl whom they named Mae Ellen Tidwell. At the age of two Mae became developmentally disabled and at that time her siblings stepped in to help care for her.

She joined Little Caney Methodist Church in Rosston, Arkansas at an early age. After moving to Prescott, Arkansas she united with St. Luke AME Church. Later in life she gave birth to her bundle of joy, Emma. Mae enjoyed working at the Nevada County Recycling Center, sweeping floors, listening to her favorite station 105.9, dancing and family get-togethers.

In her 69th season of life she passed into the Lord’s embrace on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Prescott Manor Nursing Center in Prescott, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Gloria Welch and one brother, Ollie V. Tidwell; two-sisters-in-law, Estell Tidwell and Minnie Tidwell; one nephew, Bennie Tidwell; and two nieces, Lois Craven Brown and Doris Ann Hopson.
