Roy Howard Banister was born March 20, 1950 in Conway, Arkansas to Howard Banister and Pamela Choate. He was lovingly raised by his mother, Pamela and Dad, Paul Choate. He traded his earthly home for his Heavenly home on July 9. in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He is now in the arms of Jesus. He was preceded in death by his father, Howard Banister, his Dad, Paul Choate, his sister Sue Banister and a special niece, Brandi Kregger. He is a member of Church On the Rock in Nashville, Arkansas and served as a deacon at Word of Faith Church in Blevins.
He was a loving husband, Dad, and Poppa. He will live forever on this Earth through his family, who loved him: wife of 53 years, Janet Banister, Blevins, Ar.; Daughters: Tierra Stewart and (Randy), Monticello, Arkansas, Jennifer Fincher, (Chris), Hope, Arkansas; Sons: Jeremy Banister, Springdale, AR, and Jason Banister, (Lesli), Genoa, AR. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great children, plus one in the oven. He is survived by his mother, Pamela Choate, Blevins AR. ;Brothers, David Banister, (Juanita), Blevins, Arkansas, Tim Choate, (Janet), Blevins, Arkansas, and Ryan Choate, (Holly), Little Rock, Arkansas. ;Sister, Lynette Ritter, Bigelow, AR. He also leaves a host of family and friends.
Roy was a jack of many trades, but his most cherished occupation was working with people at River Ridge Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation in Texarkana. Roy’s passion was deer hunting with his family, building tree houses for his grands, and spending time with family. Roy had a tender heart and loved to help people. He left a legacy of love for his family.
His grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Dylan Fincher, Hayden Banister, Brett Banister, Luke Banister, Jarrett Banister, Austin Conway, Turner Pentecost, and special nephew, Jacob Banister. Honorary Pallbearers are his great grandsons: Braxton Fincher, Wells Banister, and Jaxon Pentecost; special nephew, Josh Banister: brothers and brothers in laws: David Banister, Tim Choate, Ryan Choate, Steve Dominguez (his best friend), Nathan Newell, Nate Newell, and Mark Newell.
The family appreciates the loving care of the doctors and nurses at Baptist Hospital in Arkadelphia, and Chi St. Vincent’s in Hot Springs and all friends who have expressed love and concern.
Visitation will be Saturday, July 13th from 5pm-7pm at the Brazzel Oakcrest Chapel.
Funeral Service will be Sunday, July 14th at 3pm at the Brazzel Oakcrest Chapel with burial to follow at Marlbrook Cemetery in Blevins, AR.
