Shirley M. Lathrop, 79, of Little Rock, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. She was born on December 8, 1927 in Blanchard, Iowa, a daughter of the late Henry Everett Harness and Nettie Walkinshaw Harness. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Christian Church where she was a member of the Believers Sunday School Class, very active in Welcome Wagon, and she loved fishing, camping and outdoor activities. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Robert Lathrop; daughter Vickie, and her husband, Dr. Doug Holloway, of Little Rock; three brothers Ray Harness, and his wife, Dorothy, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Merlin Harness, and his wife, Beverly, of Overland Park, Kansas; Bill Harness, and his wife, Judy, of Williamsburg, Virginia; one sister, Sarah Hutt, of Liberty, Missouri; three grandchildren, Christoper Holloway, Sarah Holloway, and Samuel Holloway, all of Little Rock; and a host of other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2007, at First Christian Church, with Reverend Hart Moore and Reverend Steve Wallace officiating. Entombment will be at Riverwood Memorial Gardens, Mausoleum of Faith, in Maumelle. The Family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Roller-Chenal funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bob Waggoner, Buzzy Snow, Bill Godfrey, Ernest Wild, Larry Miller, and Dennis Miller. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Farmer, Len Mano, John Cates, Edgar Schaffer, and Don Harris.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Odyssey Hospice Healthcare.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Briarwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 516 South Rodney Parham, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205 or to Believers Sunday School Class, First Christian Church, 1500 North Mississippi, Little Rock, Arkansas 72207.
