Jimmie P. Westfall, age 87, of Pearcy, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 4, 2013.

He was born on October 30, 1925 in Hot Springs, the son of James Alvin Westfall and Pearl Mary Burton Westfall. On April 25, 1946, he was married to Morene Lay. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Marjorie Austin and Dorothy Hand.

He worked for Entergy (Arkansas Power and Light Company) for 40 years as a Journeyman Meterman. Jimmie Patrick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devout Christian who touched the lives of many with his musical abilities. His unconditional love for family and his country were his trademark.

Jimmie was a man of high moral character. He was honest, kind, generous, soft spoken and he treated all with dignity and respect. His motto was, "If you don't have anything good to say about someone, don't say anything at all."

At age 15, Jimmie joined the Floyd Hunter Group, a southern gospel musical ensemble, where he played the piano in numerous venues including KTHS radio. Later, Jimmie played for various gospel quartets to include the Friendly Five and most recently the Tri Lakes. He also played in numerous church services where audiences far and near enjoyed his fantastic sound.

Jimmie was drafted by the U.S. Navy at mid-term of his senior year at Lakeside High School. His father, James Westfall, received Jimmie's diploma while he was in Navy Basic Training in San Diego, California. During World War II, Jimmie proudly served his country aboard the USS Gatling-DD671, a Fletcher Class Destroyer. He was engaged in many battles including the liberation of Iwo Jima. His military honors include American Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, a Silver Star, and three Bronze Stars. He also received a Good Citizenship Award from the Daughters of the American Revolution.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Morene Westfall of Pearcy; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Brian and Yvonne Westfall of Hot Springs and Paul David Westfall of Pearcy; five grandchildren, Katelyn Westfall of Hot Springs, Kelsey Brown of Rogers, Zachary Westfall of Ocean Grove, New Jersey, Willis Westfall of Hot Springs, and Brandi Westfall of Dangerfield, Texas; three great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joyce Westfall of Little Rock.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 7, 2013 in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Bro. David Taylor officiating.

Interment will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday evening.

Pallbearers will be Brian Westfall, Tim Scott, Randy Walker, Mike Robbins, Rod Woodard, and gentlemen from Lake Hills Free Will Baptist Church.

Honorary pallbearers will be Pat and Lola Rogers and Junior and Mary Cox of the Skipbo card playing group.

Special thanks to the Mercy Hospital ICU staff with special thanks to Cassie Fire, Jim's guardian angel.
