Jim Kern, 73, passed away at home on Monday, July 1, 2024. He was born March 3, 1951 to Josephine and Roscoe Kern in Cedar Falls, IA. For those who remember him he was known as a jolly guy. He loved his grandkids, great grandkids, nieces and nephews who refer to him as “uncle Grumpy”. He loved going fishing and volunteering with the Bohannon Mountain Fire Department for 20 plus years. He was a retired Army National Guardsman who fought in battle in the Gulf War.
He was preceded in death by his parents of Spring Valley; son Jim Kern II of Hindsville; siblings Dixie Kern and Gary Mason of Spring Valley and Eleanor Kay Doss of Louisiana
Survivors include Daughter Joyce Keck of Miami, OK; former wife and mother to his daughter Sandra French, and former wife, best friend and mother to his son Lenora (Sue) Kern; siblings Roscoe (Ross) Kern Jr. and Rosemarie Mason of Spring Valley; former siblings Richard Doss of Louisiana, James Worley and wife Brenda of Hindsville, Tim Thompson and wife Melissa of Hindsville, Larry Thompson and Linda Redell of Springdale, Kay Laningham of Harrison, Leona Parrot of Miami, OK, Tammy Thompson and Philine Davies of Greenland; Grandchildren Lindsey Keck and Cheyenne of Rogers, Kadance Keck, Xander Keck and Levi Keck of Miami, OK; great-grandchildren are Talia Huss and Silas Huss; numerous nieces, nephews and many others.
In Lieu of flowers please donate to the American Diabetes Association or St. Jude’s Miracle Network. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Madison County Funeral Service of Huntsville
