Died: May 16, 2024

Garrett Kane Reid, 63, of North Little Rock passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, after a long battle with an infection.

Garrett was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara and James Reid. He is survived by his sister Holly Turner of Conway, AR, two brothers – Thomas Love of Van Vleck, TX, and Lowery (Dana) Reid of Olive Branch, MS, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his favorite companion – a beloved cat named Harley.

Garrett was a lifelong resident of Central Arkansas. He was raised in Sherwood, AR and graduated from Sylvan Hills High School. After high school Garrett had careers as a mechanic and doing maintenance. For the past 25+ years Garrett worked for Associated Management as a Maintenance Supervisor for Country Club Apartments and Shadow Oaks in North Little Rock.

Garrett was a great guy who took life on his own terms. He would give you the shirt off his back…as long as it wasn’t a Harley shirt. Yes, Garrett was a Harley guy. A “guy’s guy” who loved to ride his bike in the mountains…trout fish in the White River…could fix almost anything…and liked a 7 & 7 once upon a time. But Garrett had a flashy side too… he liked a good pair of sunglasses, a nice piece of jewelry, Rock Revival jeans and of course – anything with a Harley Davidson logo. He was tender-hearted towards animals and was known to feed the birds, squirrels and rabbits from his patio while his cat Harley watched keenly from the window. Garrett was a Razorback fan and he and his brother Lowery often talked about the Hogs chances for winning at whatever sport was in season. Garrett had a fun sense of humor and was known to tell a joke now and then – not always a clean one – and to be teased by Garrett meant he liked you. He gave everyone a nickname – his family observed that his cell phone is full of contacts like Pizza Guy, Tool Man, or simply Painter and Plumber. His family feels confident anyone reading this knows the nickname Garrett bestowed upon them.

Garrett was absolutely one of a kind and he will be greatly missed by the friends and family who knew and loved him.

The family will hold a private memorial service.

Anyone wishing to honor Garrett can make a donation to the Sherwood Animal Services, 6500 North Hills Blvd, North Little Rock, AR 72116. Better yet, adopt a cat in his memory and name it something like “Harley-Guy” or “G-Man”. We feel certain Garrett would get a kick out of that.
