Will McElroy, 55, of Smackover, died Saturday as the result of gunshot wounds. Born in Mt. Holly, July 4, 1914, he was the son of Will and Annie Reddin McElroy. He was a member of Sweet Canaan Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Gladys Mae McElroy, Smackover; three sons, Will McElroy, Jr., Gregory McElroy and Lee Albert McElroy, all of Smackover; five daughters, Miss Mary James McElroy, Miss Mattie Mae McElroy, Miss Jeanette D. McElroy, Miss Billie Jean McElroy and Miss Loturner R. McElroy, all of Smackover; two brothers, Zack McElroy, Los Angeles, Calif,; four sisters, Miss Sallie L. McElroy, Smackover, Mrs. Willie M. Jackson and Miss Mattie P. McElroy, both of Mt. Holly, and Mrs. Mary L. Lee, of Little Rock; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in Sweet Canaan Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - March 12, 1971)
