Larry Lee Henthorn, age 68, of Little Rock passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013. He was born in Louisiana, Missouri in 1944 and raised in Illinois by his parents, Howard Nip and Ruth Henthorn. Larry started his radio career before graduating from Pittsfield High. He worked at several stations in Illinois and Indiana then came to Little Rock to work for KEZQ in 1978. In 1993, Larry left radio to pursue a degree in Technical and Professional Writing. Upon completion, he joined the UALR Rhetoric and Writing Department where he served as the Director of the Cyberspace program, provided computer support, and taught writing courses until retiring in 2011. Larry is survived by his mother, Ruth of Baylis, Illinois; wife, Mary; children, Robert Henthorn, Geoffrey Nelson and wife Ashley, and Liz Balentine and husband Reed of Little Rock, and Philip Rusk of Fayetteville; sister, Linda Smith and husband Dick; brother, Mike and wife Debi; and grandchildren, Mackenzie, Keilen, and Corbin. Larry also dearly loved his nephews James and Jason, and niece Kristi and her children. Larry has left behind many friends who shared his interest in ham radio, martial arts, coffee, and sports cars. As Larry requested, there will not be a funeral service. The family invites his friends to drop by and visit at his home on Saturday March 2nd from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
