James Maury Staton passed away peacefully May 3rd, 2014 surrounded at his bedside by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia and his father and mother, Rube and Lindy Staton, of Lonoke. He is survived by his brother Bob Staton and his wife Rose and their son Jimmy; his sister Betty Reed and her husband Bob, daughter Gina Burson and her husband Dan, daughter Dawn Cook, granddaughter Casey Rivers and her husband Stephen, and grandson JT Burson. Though a longtime North Little Rock resident, he was raised and went to school in Lonoke. He served in the US Air Force for four years and worked as a policeman in Lonoke. He also worked on the railroad, for AFCO Steel and BJ McAdams. He retired as an over the road driver for ABF after over 30 years where he formed strong and fast friendships that lasted a lifetime. He enjoyed visiting his friends at the various restaurants he frequented in and around North Little Rock. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved his friendly manner, his generosity, and his infectious smile and laughter. Visitation will be at the Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 JFK Boulevard, North Little Rock on Wednesday, May 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. We will gather at Roller-Owens Funeral Home on Thursday, May 8th at 2:00 p.m. for a Memorial Service and to pay our respects and comfort one another.
