David Leroy Edmonson, 66, of Glen Rose, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He was born to Frank and Alice Edmonson on April 16,1948 in Bauxite, AR. He attended Bryant High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bennington during the Vietnam War. He retired from the City of Benton after 25 years of service. He was a member of the Raymond Magill Post 2256, Veterans of Foreign Wars. David enjoyed hunting, fishing, and cooking for his family. He loved to joke and had a name for everybody. He was a hard worker and could fix anything. He enjoyed every minute of his life and was loved by many people, if he considered you a friend, you were one for life. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, D.F. Edmonson, Jabo Edmonson, and Bill Edmonson. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Recia Edmonson, four daughters: Danette Rick Rucker of Beebe, AR; Alice JT Lawrence of Chimes, AR; Andrea Edmonson of Glen Rose, AR; Davie Aaron Davis of Oceanside, CA; and Missy Clayton Ray, who he considered his own, 7 sisters: Helen Ward, West Virginia; Ruby Ridgeway, NLR, AR; Verna Kenneth Land, Topeka, KS; Marge Ladd, Sheridan AR; Mickie White, El Dorado, AR; Linda Jackie Hardin, Hot Springs, AR; Mary Terry Ables, Bauxite, AR, 6 brothers: Leon Jean Edmonson, Benton, AR; Thurman Linda Edmonson, Bauxite, AR; Lynn Elaine Edmonson, Traskwood, AR; Phil Sue Edmonson, Bryant, AR; Bob Charlene Edmonson, Bauxite, AR; Randy Mae Dean Edmonson, Prattsville, AR, 11 grandchildren; Kayla, Shanna, Sheree, Kylee, Olivia, Gabrielle, Krysta, Keira, Kaitlynn, Austin, and Jessica, special friends; Roger and Sharon Lee, and a host of family and many loving friends. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the care given by Arkansas Hospice, Dr. Lawrence Mendelsohn, his staff, and all the special nurses at CARTI.
The memorial service will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., May 20th, at the Fairplay Missionary Baptist Church in Benton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 628 Malvern Ave, Hot Springs, AR 71901; CARTI 9500 Baptist Health Dr, Little Rock, AR, or Fairplay Missionary Baptist Church, 8516 Fairplay Rd, Benton, AR 72019.
