James W. Briant, age 87, of New Edinburg, AR, died Thursday, March 30, 2017 at Bradley County Medical Center. Born January 1, 1930, in Cleveland County, AR, son of the late William Roy Briant and Mattie Ozell Harvill Briant. He was retired from Sykes Flooring, Darrough Poultry Company and a farmer. James was a member of Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church and a member of Huey Lodge # 78 F.&A.M. Preceding him in death were two son in laws, Glynn Saunders and Joe Bryant, two sisters, Louise Ford and Garlene Chancellor.

Survivors are his wife Martha Barnett Briant. Son Larry Briant and spouse Becky of New Edinburg, AR. Four daughters Bobbie Saunders of Warren, AR, Rita Martin and spouse Frank of New Edinburg, AR, Linda Cameron and spouse Paul of Junction City, AR, and Terry Gullett and spouse Freddy of New Edinburg, AR. Nine grandchildren and Twenty-one great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at Frazer's Chapel with Rev. Steve Schmidt, Rev. Dwayne Ashcraft and Rev. Brian Williams officiating. Linda Barrett was organist and Jimmy Pennington was soloist. Burial was in Moseley Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Dustin Briant, Jeremy Briant, Tanner Williams, Taylor Williams, Daniel Bryant, Trent Saunders, Shane Perry, and Tristan Saunders. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Harvell, Ryan Weeks, Cid McKee, Cash McKee, James Weeks, Evan Briant, Brock Briant, Noah Weeks, Nate Briant, Jack Briant, Aidan Harvell, and Jager Perry.
