*Obituary

Lance Christopher DeGroat lived a life defined by his selfless dedication to others, his passion for crafting, and his deep connection to his faith. Born in Saratoga Springs, New York, on April 19, 1967, Lance eventually made his home in Kensett, Arkansas, where he immersed himself in the community and found solace in the Kensett Church Of Christ.

Service was Lance’s love language; he found fulfillment in helping others without expecting anything in return. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a neighbor or offering support to a friend in need, Lance’s kindness and generosity left a lasting impact on those around him.

One of Lance’s joys in life was working with his hands, particularly in crafting small and large tin creations. His penchant for tinkering with things reflected his curiosity and ingenuity; whether he was fixing something or simply disassembling it to understand its inner workings, Lance found joy in the process.

On April 15, 2024, Lance DeGroat passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Kristof Staff, his father, Leonard Richard DeGroat, and his older sister Tammy Lynn DeGroat. He is survived by his brothers Rick, Larry, and Loren DeGroat, his twin sister Tracy Mahar, and sisters Tanya DeGroat and Suzanne Staff. Additionally, Lance leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish his memory and the impact he had on their lives. Though Lance may no longer be with us in person, his spirit of compassion and generosity will continue to inspire those who knew him.

A family-hosted Memorial Service for Lance will be at the Kensett Church of Christ on the corner of Dandridge Street and West Cross Street in Kensett, Arkansas. Visitation will be from 10:30 – 11:00, Service will be 11:00-12:00 and a time for a meal and fellowship at the end of the service.
