Johnnie B. Alford, Jr., 62 of Memphis, Tennessee formerly of Augusta, died Saturday, February 29 at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis.
Johnnie B. was born February 22, 1958, in Memphis, Tennessee to Johnnie B. Alford Sr. and Amyle Steadman-Alford.
Johnnie was a member of Higher Heights Baptist Church in Memphis for more than 7 years where he sang in the choir. He was formerly a member of Ward Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Augusta and also Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church in Patterson.
Johnnie was raised in Augusta and attended the Augusta School System. He was a 1976 graduate of Augusta High School.
Johnnie was employed as a Security Guard with Imperial Security Systems in Memphis for the last 2 years. He was formerly self-employed as a lawn care and landscaping specialist for several years.
His parents; his sons Johnnie B. Alford III, and two brothers: Larry Alford and Roosevelt Alford all preceded Johnnie B. in death.
Survivors are two sons: Travis (Russia) Alford of McCrory, AR; and Octavious Lockhart of Augusta, AR; five daughters: Aleechia (Kenne) Gill of Hampton, GA; Kandice (Mikel) Smith of McCrory, AR; Alexis Alford of Patterson, AR; Tynishia Alford and Myishia Alford both of Kensett, AR; twelve grandchildren, a great-grandchild, three sisters: Marilyn Alford, Sheila (Raul) Alford-Romero and Janice (Chris) Alford-Sanders all of Memphis, TN; a nephew Larry Clark of Memphis, TN; two nieces: Jasmine Tyson and Danielle Gray both of Memphis, TN; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 7 at 2:30 PM at Mount Pisgah Missionary Baptist Church, 114 Olive Street in Patterson with Reverend Felix Duckworth officiating. The interment will be private. For more information please call (870) 734-2772.
