James Brock, 62, of Rt. 1, Huttig, died Monday afternoon in a local nursing home following an illness of several weeks. The son of Hayward and Cary Brock, he was born Aug. 10, 1905, in Lapile. He was a member of the Batts Chapel Baptist Church of Rt. 1, Huttig. Survivors include several sisters and brothers; a court appointed guardian, C. P. Phifer, Huttig; a step-brother, Tom Waters, Huttig; two sisters, Mrs. Little Mason, Huttig and Mrs. Bessie Harper, Gurdon; and several cousins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Batts Chapel Church with the Rev. G. F. Abson officiating. Burial will follow in the Batts Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Union Funeral Directors, Farmerville, La. (El Dorado Times - November 10, 1967)
