Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Baptist Church for Lt. Steven Gill Epperson, 23, who was killed in action in Vietnam last Saturday. The Rev. Tom Bray will officiate. Born Aug. 20, 1946, in Prescott, he was the son of B. Doyle and Polly Akers Epperson. He was a member of Second Baptist Church and was a 1968 a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Sigma fraternity. Lt. Epperson had been in Vietnam for three months and was serving with the U.S. Army 2nd Battalion 34th Armored Infantry of the 25th Infantry Division. He was on recon-patrol near Tay Ninh at the time of his death. He is survived by his parents of El Dorado; a sister, Mrs. Ledra Swain, Houston, Tex.; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Naisey Epperson, Gurson. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Young's. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside. The body will arrive in El Dorado late Friday.
