Bert Owen Forester, 84, died Jan. 7, 2007, in San Dimas, Calif. He was born on Feb. 25, 1922, in Summers to Munrow and Sarah Catherine Forester and was the second youngest of 12 children. He married his first wife, Juanita Poore, in 1940, and a daughter, Donna, was born of their marriage. In 1951, he married his second wife, Lella Hilliard Lineberry. Lella's son, Michael Lineberry, became Bert's stepson with this union; and his second daughter, Kimberly, was born in 1953.

Forester was a radioman, 2nd Class, in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He often recalled his memories of that pivotal time in history, while he served aboard the USS Frazier, a destroyer ship, from September 1942 to November 1945.

In 1960, he moved his family from California to Arkansas, where he enjoyed a life of farming and engaging in a variety of business ventures. After 44 years, he left Arkansas and returned to Southern California in 2004, to live near his daughter, Donna, and his extended family members there.

His wife, Lella, preceded him in death in February 1997; as did his first wife, Juanita, who died in December 1998. He is survived by his two daughters and their husbands: Donna and Jim Milliorn, Upland, Calif.; Kimberly Forester and Marc Evans, Pullman, Wash.; stepson, Michael Lineberry and his wife, Bonnie, Idaho Falls, Idaho; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Teal, of Pomona, Calif.; 11 nieces, nine nephews and their families; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law and their families; and last but not least, his beloved and devoted little dog companion, Buddy.

Arrangements are being tended to by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, Fayetteville; with interment at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Fayetteville. At Mr. Forester's request, there will be no services.
