December 9, 1910 - January 18, 1996
Evelyn Kendrick was the daughter and 5th child of Ernest Edward Wood and Annie Laura Taylor Wood. She attended local schools, Howard and Lincoln High to the eleventh grade at Fort Smith AR. She finished her High School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. In Okmulgee she also completed Oklahoma Business College. In later years she married Willard Freeman Kendrick and was the mother of one daughter, Mary Evelyn. Her husband and her daughter preceded her in death. She was a member of the Quinn Chapel A.M.E. church throughout her life. She was also a member on the Fort Smith City Board under Mayor Happy Hestand.
