*When Ita Pearl Johnston Cox was born on August 3, 1877, in Alabama, her father, James, was 53, and her mother, Martha, was 37. She married William Sterling Cox on September 22, 1895. They had three children in 16 years. She died on December 20, 1926, at the age of 49, and was buried in Pangburn, Arkansas.
