December 5, 1884 - January 31, 1969
J. M. White 84 years old who had resided for many years at 924 William Penn street in Van Buren died Friday night January 31 in a local nursing home. He was born at Pine Valley, Miss. on December 5, 1884 to Thomas and Julia Ann Sutton White. His wife Mrs. Lora White died in 1962.
Mr. White who was well known as engineer for Ward's Ice Plant for some thirty-six years, retired in 1954.
Survivors are three daughters Mrs. Harry (Betty) Savery of Van Buren, Mrs. Harold (Wilma) Claypool of Siloam Springs and Mrs. Perry (Everette) Shaver of Houston, Texas; two brothers Bee White of Water Valley, Miss. and Elmer White of Memphis, Tenn.; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Ocker Memorial Chapel. Edwin Burris pastor of First Assembly of God church and Harold Clegg pastor of Second Baptist church were the officiating ministers. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery.
