Julious “Missie” Lafate Thorn passed away on November 16, 2023 at the age of 90. He was born November 9, 1933 in Guy, Arkansas to Gerald Randolph and Bertha Hooten Thorn. He served in the Unites States Army and was a member of the Greenbrier Lodge #290 Mason Lodge for 54years. He worked for many years at Arko Manufacturing in North Little Rock. He farmed all his life, raised cattle and other farm animals. He worked on everything, he was a jack of all trades. He could fix anything. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Greenbrier, Arkansas.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Zack Stephens, that was by his side almost all the time; brothers, Olen D. Thorn, Farrell Randell Thorn, Willard Ray Thorn; sisters, Rhoda Treadway.

He survived by his loving wife Winnie Thorn, of 70 years they were married on December 27, 1952 by his grandfather Julious H. Thorn of Guy, Arkansas; one son, Robbie (Janis Reedy) Thorn of Conway, Arkansas; two daughters, Anna Mahan and Sherry Stephens both Greenbrier, Arkansas; one brother, Melvin (Sandra) Thorn; two sisters, NanaKay Thorn of Greenbrier and Ruby (Ken) Burroughs of Enola, Arkansas.

Pallbearers are his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Paden Thorn, Richie Vaughan, Samantha (Kyle) Garretson, Andrea (Tim) Bassett, Misty (Luke) Havens, Rachel Puckett; great grandsons, Trey Havens, Hunter (Morgan) Havens.

Honorary pallbearers are his great grandchildren, Isaiah Puckett, Holly Puckett, Bailey Bassett, Brooklyn Bassett, Addy Thorn, DeAnna Vaughan, C.J. Neely and Bella Petty.

He had a great-great grandson, Hudson Havens that made a 5-generation family. He loved all his children and grandchildren. He loved life and loved to talk to everyone including strangers. He lived a long life, and loved making others laugh. He loved driving his tractor and lawn mowers. He planted many gardens. Him and his wife took on several projects together such as woodworking and yard saling. He will definitely be missed and loved by many.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Zack Stephens Memorial at Greenbrier Middle School, 4 School Drive, Greenbrier, Arkansas 72058 or St. Jude’s Hospital where Mr. Thorn made many donations.

Visitation will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday November 21, 2023 with services at 2:00pm both at Immanuel Baptist Church, 61 Green Valley Drive, Greenbrier, Arkansas with Brother Gaylon King officiating. Burial will follow to Thorn Cemetery, Greenbrier, Arkansas.
