James Ernest Perrero, 83, of Witter; passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Cox Health Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri. He was born Friday, November 8, 1940, in Spring Valley, Illinois; to Angelo Nichola and Philomena Nosalik Perrero.

James married Sandra Jeanine Cox on Wednesday, August 10, 1988, at Witter. James dedicated a significant portion of his life to serving his country as a distinguished member of the United States Navy, where he specialized as a diver and torpedoman. Following his retirement from the Navy, James transitioned into running an ammunition business. Renowned for his exceptional marksmanship skills, James found joy in the simple pleasures of life, and could always be found riding his tractor and helping his neighbors. He held a deep affection for the ocean, cherished the thrill of racing motorcycles, and delighted in witnessing his grandchildren compete in sports activities.


James was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Perrero; his parents, Angelo and Philomena Perrero; one brother, Richard Perrero; and one sister, Janet Pigeon. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Sandra Perrero, of Leeds, Alabama; his daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Phillip Wells, of Springdale; six grandchildren, Matthew Perrero, Brittanie Waggoner, Megan Dunaway, Anna Perrero, Brandon Gragg, and Angelo Perrero; and seven great-grandchildren.

No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation is entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
