James Yancey Reynolds passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at his home in Spring Hill, Arkansas. He was born and raised in Camden, Arkansas, then spent most of his adult life as a resident of Hope, Arkansas. He also called Nashville, Arkansas home for several years, but his favorite home place of all was his cabin at Grassy Lake.
Yancey was preceded in death by his parents, Dan Reynolds, Sr. and Mary Catherine Dalton; one brother, Dan Reynolds, Jr.; and his son, John Yancey Reynolds. Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Jeannie Lowe Reynolds; his daughter and son-in-law Laura and Jason Banks; 11 grandchildren; and many lifelong friends- all whom he loved dearly.
Yancey, known as Pop by his grandchildren, truly enjoyed life. He was an adventurer, starting out as a young man traveling to Alaska along the Alaskan Highway. His love of hunting and the outdoors took him on many more adventures- elk hunting in Idaho and Wyoming, fishing in Alaska. He was comfortable and happy in a duck blind, a deer stand, on a boat fishing or roaming a mountainside hunting elk. He appreciated everything natural and beautiful. He may have traveled many places, but the dearest spot in all the world to him was Grassy Lake.
Pop loved to tell stories, as with all the great storytellers, his stories became better and more embellished with time. He loved kids and dogs, and they loved him back. Pop always said they were the best judges of character. He loved his family and friends- and if you were blessed to be either, you would know they are one in the same.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope, Arkansas with Bro. Eric Fisher officiating.
