December 5, 1944 - August 1, 2020
Jerry Wright, 75, of Royal, Arkansas passed away Saturday, August 1, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 5, 1944 to the late William and Ruth Short Wright.
Like his father, Jerry learned the value of hard work in the logging woods, having joined the family business as a child. He would eventually retire from Weyerhouser as a contract logging trucker. A patriotic man, Jerry began serving our country during his senior year of high school with the 212th Battalion Army National Guard Signal Corp, retiring as a Sergeant. An avid outdoorsman, you could often find him coon hunting or fishing. Having been a seasonal resident of Colorado for many years, he loved to brag about his deer and elk hunts in the Rocky Mountains. Although Jerry enjoyed working on his trucks and rebuilding his treasured yellow Chevrolet Chevelle, it was his children, grandchildren, and especially great-grandchildren that brought him the most joy!
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Bryan; two brothers, Douglas and Michael; and his nephew, Darin.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of over 55 years, Betty Wright; son, Ricky Wright (Randi); two brothers, Kenneth (Michelle), and Don (Willie Jo) Wright; sisters, Sharron Wright, Lisa Wright, and Mary Brooks (Jimmy); aunt, Ruby Spieres; sisters-in-law, Debbie Wright, and Barbara Boley (Johnny); brother-in-law, Leonard Hogg (Margaret); grandchildren, Jordan Gibson (Austin), Izzy Wright, Charlie Wright, Jacob Wright, Dylan Murphy, Laney Anderson, and Luke Anderson; great granddaughters, Haizleigh and Brylee Gibson; several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
We wish to thank Kindred Hospice nurses and staff; Dr. Amy Cleveland and staff at the Genesis Cancer Center; and Jerry’s daughter in-law, Randi Wright for all of the love, compassion, and care given to Jerry during his last days.
Graveside memorial services will be held 10:30 AM, Wednesday, August 5th, 2020 at Morning Star Cemetery.
