Thomas Harold Payne, loving father and grandfather, went home to be with the lord on the evening of April 10 at the age of 85. Tom was born April 5, 1929 to Thomas Bratton Payne and Jennie Laura Sorter-Payne in Grand Island, Nebraska.

Tom is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sharon. His 9 children: Valerie, Tom, Tim, Shari, Jennie, Joey, Andrew, Christi and Alicia, his 20 grand children and his sister, Mildred Forster.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his brother’s Louis Garrett and Joe Garrett and his sister Juanita Thomas.

Tom lived a full and adventurous life. At the age of 14, Tom joined the US Navy. Later, he spent time as a magician as well as a radio DJ before eventually moving to Hot Springs. Tom opened and operated his business, Creative Frames, for nearly 40 years and fulfilled his passion for the arts by becoming a very accomplished painter.

Pallbearers: Thomas J. Payne, Tim Payne, Joey Payne, Andrew Payne, Scott Bales and John Lipiani. Honorary Pallbearers: Ronald Jarrell, Joe Jarrell, Tim Jarrell, Father Alan Rosenau and Kumar Maruthur.

Visitation is scheduled Monday, April 14 from 5-7pm at Hot Springs Funeral Home.

A celebration of Tom’s life will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 15 at Crossgate Church with Pastor Shawn Barnard and Terry Thompson officiating. Burial will be at Morning Star Cemetery.
