RITES FOR LAFAYETTE BARRY HELD FRIDAY MORNING
Funeral services for Lafayette Barry, aged 87, who died late Thursday, June 25th, at the Benton County home, were held there at 10 o’clock Friday morning, conducted by Arch Herman, intimate friend and a member of the Church of the Nazarene of Bentonville, with which Mr. Barry also was affiliated. Music was by a group from the choir of that church and pallbearers also were from that congregation. Burial was in the Bentonville cemetery.
Mr. Barry’s death followed a long illness. It was his request that should the Rev. R.S. Rushing, pastor of the local Nazarene Church, be unable to serve that Mr. Herman conduct his funeral. Mr. Rushing was in Kansas City attending a general assembly of the Nazarene Church.
Mr. Barry was born in Ontario, Canada, Feb. 15th, 1849, and was a son of Benjamin and Mary Crawford Barry. He had been a resident of this vicinity for 25 years, and formerly owned a farm near Bentonville and a home here in town.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie W. Barry, and a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Barry Clayton, both of Bentonville; a brother, David Q. Barry; and a sister, Mrs. Emily Green of Millington, Mich.
