September 15, 1916 - March 8, 1917
*Obituary
On March 8, 1917, the death angel visited the home of Johnie Butler and claimed for his own their only child, Allie Varle. She was born Sept. 15, 1916, died March 7, 1917. Her little body was laid away at the old family graveyard, Old Union, to await the resurrection. Weep not dear father and mother, we know you will miss her in the home, but God saw fit to take her to himself, to wait till you shall join her in eternal joy. Sleep on, little Allie Varle, it won't be long till all of those who love and serve the Lord, will meet you where we will not say farewell. With one eternal praise we'll dwell in the presence of God forever. Dear father and mother, live close to God, remembering that you have one more tie in heaven that is looking for you to join her some sweet day. Funeral services conducted by writer. G. T. Kilpatrick (Nevada County Picayune - May 10, 1917)
